The Alexander Technique has been scientifically proven to relieve chronic back pain more effectively than exercise prescription, massage, or behavioural counselling. 

A Southampton University study, published in the British Medical Journal and funded by the NHS, covered 579 people and 64 General Practices.

They found that Alexander lessons provided most relief from back pain, and remained the most effective after 12 months.
